Kelly Hurt, President of Kelly Hurt & Associates, Inc., is a fundraising consultant whose work includes assessing and developing successful fundraising strategies; raising funds and commodities; writing private and government grants; researching individual, foundation and corporate prospects; conducting seminars on fundraising and grant writing; developing and managing a comprehensive grant seeking database; writing appeal letters, brochures, and other marketing materials; and conducting staff and Board training in implementing effective fundraising activities. Kelly has worked with dozens of nonprofits throughout the nation and has raised nearly $10 million for her clients.
 
She is a popular guest speaker and trainer on fundraising, grant writing, and other nonprofit issues at local and national conferences, including those for Arizona State University, the Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness, St. Luke Health Initiatives' Technical Assistance Program (TAP), the Arizona Charter School Association, and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.
 
Prior to establishing her consulting firm, Kelly worked as a Grants Specialist at Catholic Healthcare West/Shared Business Services in Phoenix, Arizona. In this capacity, she served as a fundraising consultant to Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) Development Directors in Arizona, Nevada, and California to assess their fundraising plans and provide training on how to improve or enhance their major donor, Board of Director, foundation, and other fundraising strategies. She also wrote and edited proposals for CHW's 47 partner hospitals and hospital foundations; developed a prospect research division and trained staff to research and complete profiles on private, corporate, and government funders.
 
Kelly also served as the Foundation Manager for Food for the Hungry. In this position, Kelly helped increase annual foundation and corporate income from $150,000 to more than $600,000 per year by using a personalized strategy with these donors. She established a prospect research division at the agency and traveled to Africa and South America to observe programs and train international staff about effective fundraising practices.
 
Kelly has authored a number of articles on fundraising and grant writing featured in numerous publications and web sites including: Assessing Your Need, Attaining Your Funding, published in No Child Left Behind: A Solution Guide for Educators magazine from Learning Services, Inc.; Writing Successful Government Grants published in the NCSC News; Developing Successful Partnerships with Your Donors, published in the AZ Nonprofit News, and Tell a Story to Make Grant Writing Easier, published in Managing School Business.
 
Kelly is the past President and Program Chair of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement - Arizona (APRA-AZ), of which she has been a member since 1993. Kelly also served on the Board of Restoration Ministries, a non-profit agency helping low-income families in Phoenix, where she assisted with proposal writing and public relations
